What singers need to know during cold and flu season!

Well it’s that time of year again! I just returned from the Dr. Warren Line and Dr. Tom Groeche’s office as I have been struck by the cold bug and have a sinus infection to boot!

Every year it seems to be harder and harder to fight these germs and it’s important to stay pro-active. If you are someone that gets sick more than once a year, like me, then staying in touch with your Ear, Nose and Throat doctor is important.

I have been working with some of the best ENT’s in the United States for the last 10 years and have learned a lot along the way.  Again if you are getting sick often it may be for a variety of reasons. As we all know rest, low, a good diet and vitamins are important, however I find that a vast majority of my clients suffer form allergies. Allergies can cause swelling in the nasal passages which makes it a breeding ground for bacteria and makes it more likely you will get sick and that can turn into an infection making it harder to get better more quickly.

Use a sinus rinse every day and consult your doctor about a nasal spray at night. Steam vaporizers work well, and lots of fluids. If your cold doen’t seem to be getting better it might be time for a doctor visit and possibly anti-biotics to avoid further infection.

Be smart singers, we need our health!
